It is my firm belief that parents are key to children's success in the classroom. While parent support is key, it's not always easy! This page is dedicated to making your job as a parent or guardian just a little easier. I have included a variety of resources to help you interpret data that is sent home, find book levels and tools to help you read with your child. Here's a few tips to keep in mind as you help your child grow as a reader...
- When in doubt READ WITH YOUR CHILD! There is nothing better than time spent together in a good book.
- LISTEN to your child read aloud. This ensures they are truly reading and are accurately calling words.
- Have conversations with your child about what they are reading, even if you haven't read the book.
- Make sure your child sees YOU reading...because lets face it, they want to be just like you!
- Hold your child accountable for what they read by maintaining a reading log and checking it nightly.
