My name is Rachel Harris and this is my eighth year teaching for CMS. I am coming to Elizabeth Traditional from Irwin Academic Center where I was a third grade teacher. Prior to that, I spent my first 6 years as a third grade teacher at Paw Creek Elementary. I couldn't be more excited to be joining the ETES family this year!
I am originally from Northern Virginia, but have lived all over the US due to my father being in the military. I graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA in May, 2007. While there, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Liberal studies with a minor in Early Childhood Education. In May I graduated from Winthrop University with my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
In my free time, I love spending time with my family! I have 4 nieces and nephews that I get to see a few times a year and absolutely love! In addition to time with family, I enjoy being in the mountains, biking, running and just being outside. I travel often and really enjoy visiting new and exciting places whether to visit friends, volunteer or just explore. I also spend a lot of time with my 7 year old pup! I love Charlotte and enjoy finding new and exciting places to explore and enjoy.
I believe reading is integral to the curent educational experience and in ensuring a successful future. I look forward to working with your children this year to ensure growth and a true love of reading. Communication is key and I enjoy working with all parents and teachers. I am looking forward to a very productive school year that I know will provide growth for myself, parents and teachers alike! :)
